Preparation

  1. Bring the water to the boil with the lemon peel and cinnamon sticks, and let it boil for 5 minutes over low heat.

  2. Remove the lemon peel and cinnamon sticks. Add the butter and bread in small pieces, and let it cook for 5 minutes.

  3. Add the sugar and honey, mix everything and let it cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. Shred everything. Then add the previously beaten egg yolks and Port wine, and mix well.

  5. Add the coarsely chopped walnuts, chopped figs, pine nuts and raisins. Stir well and let it boil for another 10 minutes.

  6. Place in bowls or on a platter and let cool completely. Once cold, sprinkle with cinnamon powder and it’s ready to serve!
